永远不寂寞 – 复活节爬梯

The first thing Cherry and Rose wanted to do after we moved into our own house last year was to invite their friends to celebrate their 7th birthday.

I was busy with adjusting to the new life after a long-awaited trip back to China. I heard them say that they would invite some of their friends to our home but I simply brushed it aside. Later on, a mother emailed me saying Cherry and Rose had handed out some hand-written invites, with the address but not the phone number and other contact information. She wanted to make sure that the party would be on. I gasped and declined. My apologies…

On the weekend of the week on which their birthday fell, one of their friends rang the door bell and they had a small celebration party on their own. Poor twins!

During the summer of last year, they requested again for another party. It happened that one of their friends, then living in France, came back to Ottawa for a brief stay. They hosted a party at home.

It seemed I did not need to worry about anything. Chen bought two pizzas from Domino’s Pizza nearby as it had a promotional event then, and we supplied some fruits and juice. The twins led them playing around the entire house, inside and out, up and down, doing Hide-and-Seek, Pin the Tail, and Manhunt etc. Of course, they didn’t forget to let their guests show off a little bit of their talents. It is interesting observing how they spent three hours in our house.

Come spring, the twins were thinking of an egg hunt party on Easter Monday: April 1st. They designed a four-fold invitation card. I used Word to make the printout. Below is their agenda for the party.

What to do at a party
1. Meet the friends
2. Play egg tag
3. Easter hunt
4. Hide and seek
5. Get a drink break
6. Go to the basement for indoor games
7. Find the winner for Easter hunt
8. Snack time
9. Talent show

They each handed out five invitations. The invitee was asked to RSVP by yesterday. Up to now I have received three responses. Cherry and Rose told me two more will come. Poor twins! But they still have hope I guess…

For those who have responded, thank you for joining us! For those who haven’t done so yet, we look forward to seeing you at the party. To add some fun I will sneak in a balloon twisting workshop and a mini Chinese Material Arts foundation course.

It is just an informal party to have some fun. We look forward to seeing you all! Don’t forget to bring your own basket!
