永远不寂寞- 学钢琴

While searching some competitions to work on, Kingsong ran into the “Junior Music Camp” competition hosted by the Langlang foundation.

Lang Lang International Music Foundation is proud to present the Junior Music Camp, sponsored by Allianz. The Camp will take place November 3 to 7, 2013 in Munich, Germany. If you are under 15 years and love to play the piano – apply now!”

All you need to do is fill out the online application form and upload two videos (3 minutes maximum each), showing us who you are and your piano skills by September 25, 2013.”

Cherry and Rose started learning piano since the summer of 2012. So far they have received some chances to show their skills at their school’s talent show and a small cultural event held in the Ottawa Chinese community. Both of them were very excited with this competition and, with help from Kingsong, they each prepared two videos files as requested. One for the piano performance and one for a presentation to tell the justices who they are.

Rose chose to play “Minuet en rondeau” by John Phillipe Rameau. Cherry preferred “Minuet in G Major” by Johanne Sebastian Bach. They were comfortable with being filmed at home for the piano performance. Filming the other video file seemed to be a challenge. They didn’t seem to be able to rehearse what they wrote about themselves and we ended up placing a white board in front of them as a cue. They looked so worn out.Cherry did manage to squeeze some smiles during the filming and Rose looked quite sleepy.

When the semi-finalists were revealed, we were in a shock. Every competitor seemed to be a Langlang junior.

However Cherry and Rose seemed to be interested in trying it again next year.
